Taylor Street House, Torrington,
Connecticut is a “Sober
Living Center” with an all male population.
Taylor Street is a supportive environment that
allows the opportunity for men with common or similar
challenges in drug and alcohol dependencies to
make a successful transition to mainstream life.
The house has the capacity to hold 7 men. New
members are accepted with a positive reference
from the facility or treatment program they are
enrolled in, and a favorable informal interview
with the management of the house. The house rules
are simple but strictly enforced by the management
and membership.
There is an on site and off site
manager, and mandatory weekly meetings. The members
are required to obtain employment and attend meetings outside
the house as well. Helpfulness is something the membership
feels is important for success. There is random urine
testing provided by the membership, not an outside
agency.
A sober contract, list of the
house rules, grievance and fire and safety procedures
must be completed prior to acceptance.
